Prince Fielder

Dad and Hannah went to the Baseball Game last night.

Prince Fielder scored... with his 50th homerun, he became the youngest baseball player to reach 50 Homeruns. Oh Yeah the Brewers won! The Cubs lost... So we are still in the race. It's not over until it's over.

Chili Cook Off

So on Saturday... Dad made Chili... really good chili..

We had a chili cook off at church and at Rotary with the Days.

Dad entered his Chili... but sadly did not win any prizes. There were only 3 voters. We decided we liked the way the Day's do their voting better. They number the chili pots and have everyone take tastes... You then can anoyomously vote by putting the number of your favorite in a pot. The votes are calculated and the winner chosen.

  • Anyhow.... Your Dad's Chili...contained...

  • Bacon

  • Ground beef

  • Kielbasa Sausage

  • Red Peppers

  • Green Peppers

  • Vidalia Onion

  • Corn

  • Kidney Beans

  • Yellow Peppers

  • 1 Jar of Jalepeno Peppers... It was hot.. but we like it that way

  • Canned tomatoes with peppers

  • Garlic Salt... His diets staple

  • ???

He will have to put what else in it. We were going to freeze the leftover and save it for the family when you come home, but Mark Samuel keeps eating it. I told him it would put hair on his chest. He looked at me kind of questioning.."but I don't want to have hair grow on my chest." I think however he grew 1/2 " just this weekend.

I'll Follow Him in Faith Primary Children's Sacrament

Today was the Children's Primary Presentation at Church. Since I teach the 8 year old children I had the special privledge of sitting on the stand with them while they said their talks and sang their songs. If you click on the link above you will be able to listen to the beautiful music they sang. Just click on the words I'll Follow Him In Faith Primary Children's above and it will play the song for you. If you want to listen to all of the songs that we sang you will need to go to http://www.lds.org/pa/display/0,17884,7161-1,00.html and scroll down to the songs. When you click on them they will open in your audio player. Just click back to come back to the blog.

My children Sam, Kelsey and Rayna all did very well. They said their parts well and sang very beautifully. Although Sam had a very hard time sitting still through the whole program. I had a braclet I let him play with to help distract him while he waited between songs and for his turn to speak.

Mark did a good job sitting still during the presentation. He also gave a beautiful talk on what he was doing to prepare to serve a mission. He said that he wanted to serve a mission and would prepare himself. He said that he wanted to help others feel the Holy Ghost and join the church so that they could have the Holy Ghost with them.

1. The Lord has blessed me with gospel truth.I have learned His ways in my early youth.I will share my light, for I know it’s rightTo testify of Him.The Lord has blessed me with simple faith. If I pray for help, He will give me strength.I will do His work. I will gladly serve.I’ll follow Him in faith.
2. The Lord has blessed me to feel His love.I have felt His promptings and learned to trust. So in all I do, I’ll be faithful toThe things I know are true. The Lord has blessed me in many ways. With a thankful heart I will sing His praise.I will raise my voice and proclaim my choiceTo follow Him in faith. He has shown the way, and through all my days,I’ll follow Him in faith.

We camped there Thursday night and then met Mark on Friday afternoon to jet ski @ School House Beach on Washington Island. We had alot of fun. The weather was perfect! The water was wonderful and the company excellent.

Happy 50th Birthday Dad

So Tuesday September 11 started out very normal. I got up and began the morning with Mark and Hannah. As I kissed my love goodbye I told him to watch out for singing telegrams. I knew that it was way too late to order one for him and that I had not previously done so, but I enjoyed watching him squirm as he walked off to the car. "Only if they can find me", he retorted, laughing. Was it too late? I thought I could give it a try? While Mark Samuel readied himself for school I quickly looked up the number of a local singalong telegram company in the phone book. I called (it was 7:30 a.m) so I left a message and thought I would not hear back until next week. But .... here's the good part... As I was baking the promised German Chocolate Cake for his birthday treat the phone rang. It was John...Of course they were booked for the weekend, but could he come say... tonight at the last moment. Sure... IT was Tuesday and there were not other engagements..I guess most of his business is done on the weekends for parties and such. So... I made my request.. It had to be Elvis. I read somewhere in the yellowpages that they did Elvis. "Are you sure? The Purple monster is the most popular." John asked in a puzzled voice. Yes, I am sure. Elvis is my husband's cousin." silence... "Really..How is that? I think this is a first for me. Elvis will be there at 7:45." I quickly called the neighbors... our Milwaukee family as I call them.. They would not let me down. After all there was the German Chocolate Cake in case Elvis turned out to be a total flake. But he wasn't.. He was fun... a bit different... but a fun way to celebrate your 50th birthday with memories and neighborhood family.
